SHIP, the Samaritan Homeless Interim Program, began operations on March 5, 1984 in response to the unheeded cry of the many women, children and men who are in desperate need of emergency housing and associated services.

SHIP is a faith based, interfaith and community funded, assisted and supported, grassroots organization.

SHIP UPDATE POST HURRICANE IDA:

Dear Friends of SHIP and the Needy,

The basement of the SHIP headquarters was totally submerged and 1st floor was under 4 feet of water.   Some of the items destroyed include 5 freezers, 2 refrigerators, the buildings furnace and hot water heated, Airconditioning, 3 convection ovens, the basement ceiling collapsed, phone system, huge clothes closet, all condiments and tons of food.  In other words we were clobbered.   We had to hire a company to conduct an extensive clean up and they started on 9-7-2021.  The estimated cost is $62,000.00.

We are currently unable to receive donations due to the clean-up and disinfecting process.   When we are able to reopen and receive donations I will contact you.

We are able to receive a total of 60 Brown Bag Lunches from Monday thru Friday from 9:30 to 11:00am.  Please call us so we can make sure to reduce waste as we have no refrigeration.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR CONNECTIONS IF POSSIBLE.

If you know any individuals or companies the does Sheet Rock work we are going to need them!

We are operating using my(Tom’s)  cell phone 908-642-2404.  We shall overcome because God is good all the time.

Financial donations are most needed and appreciated as we have to replace all supplies and food items.

God bless you all.  Tom for SHIP
